Free pattern – mini frogs!

Don’t you like super quick projects that still look cute? I hope you like the mini frogs I’ve made πŸ™‚

I used a 3.5mm hook with DK weight yarn. No specific brand needed! They’re about 7-8cm tall, the perfect buddy for your bag.

US terminology used.
mc – magic circle
sc – single crochet
inc – increase
dec – decrease
FO – finish off

You will need:
Yarn
Hook
Stuffing (only for the body/head)
Yarn needle to sew the eyes to the body, and to make French knots for the eyes

Arms – make 2!
R1: mc, 6sc. [6]
R2: 6sc. [6]
FO. No long tail required.

Feet – make 2!
R1: mc, 6sc. [6]
R2 – 3: 6sc. [6]
FO. No long tail required.

Eyes – make 2!
R1: mc, 6sc. [6]
R2: 6inc. [12]
R3: 12sc. [12]
R4: (dec, sc) 4x. [8]
Press them flat, and use some brown yarn to create a French knot for the pupil!

Body and head:
R1: mc, 6sc. [6]
R2: 6inc. [12]
R3: (inc, sc) 6x. [18]
R4: (2sc, inc) 6x. [24]
R5: (inc, 3sc) 6x. [30]
R6: use 2sc to attach the feet, 10sc, 2sc for the other foot, 16sc. [30]

To attach the feet, poke the hook through the foot, then through the stitch and sc as per normal, pulling the hook through the foot as well.

R7-12: Sc around. [30]
R13: 2sc, use 2sc to attach the arms, 10sc, use 2sc to attach the arms, 14sc. [30]

Use your own discretion for the arms, please! Depending on your tension, you may end up needing more than 2sc at the front to get the arms aligned with the feet. You may need less, and that’s OK too. The arms just need to be about 10sc apart πŸ™‚

R14: (dec, 8sc) 3x. [27]
R15-16: Sc around. [27]
R17: (3sc, dec, 4sc) 3x. [24]
R18: (dec, 2sc) 6x. [18]
R19: (sc, dec) 6x. [12]
Stuff the frog.
R20: Dec around. [6]

Sew the eyes to the head.

Round belly
R1: mc, 6sc. [6]
R2: Inc around. [12]
R3: (inc, sc) 6x. [18]
R4: (2sc, inc) 6x. [24]
FO and leave a long tail for sewing.

If you want to make a frog with five colours on its belly, use the following instead and change colours between each round!

R1: mc, 5sc. [5]
R2: Inc around. [10]
R3: (inc, sc) 5x. [15]
R4: (2sc, inc) 5x. [20]
R5: (inc, 3sc) 5x. [25]
FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

I hope you enjoyed making your own frogs. Please do tag me on Instagram if you post any pictures of what you’ve made! I’m @okaytocrochet πŸ™‚

Please don’t sell the items you have made using my patterns. I certainly don’t mind if you make them and give them to your friends and loved ones, but please don’t make them and put them on your online shop or sell them at a physical location! Thanks!
